I accept been going over my 10GB limit for a few months in a row now with BT.

I contacted BT for assist and this is the breakdown they've given me:

- For the calendar month of July up to three/vii/2011 at 23:59 hours is one.34 GB (Upload usage is 1.22 GB and the download usage is 0.13 GB).

- In the month of June you take used 14.39 GB (Uploads-thirteen.35 and downloads-1.04 GB)

- In the month of April y'all accept used 11.69 GB (Uploads-10.93 GB and downloads-0.77 GB).

Before April I had never gone over the limit earlier.

I accept not uploaded any files or photos or peer-to-peer stuff, so can't sympathize why my upload usage is that high.

I have up-to-engagement AV software and HONESTLY do non use torrents or anything else to upload stuff. I've checked my 'installed programmes' listing and aught new sticks out around March/April.

What could be causing the vast increase in upload usage? I exercise utilize wireless only only at home. I'm the just user of the internet. At that place have been no security breaches every bit far every bit I'thou enlightened.

Could some dude exist using my connectedness somehow for something? If then....how do I get rid of the scumbag?

Surely normal surfing would accept a higher download usage than upload usage?

I affair I take just realised is that the default 'Admin Password' for the router won't work. I take not changed information technology since installation. On attempting to log in it says if I take forgotten my password I should reset the router to factory defaults. Is this a good idea?

The router is a BT Home Hub V 2.0 Type A.

And welcome to BleepingComputer.com, before we can assist y'all with your question of: Am I infected? You will demand to perform the following tasks and post the logs of each if you can.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

    • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.

GMER does not work in 64bit Mode!!!!!!

Please download GMER from one of the post-obit locations and salvage it to your desktop:

  • Main Mirror

    This version will download a zippo file you volition need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the cypher file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any existent-time agile protection and so your security programs volition not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.eastward. n7gmo46c.exe) and permit the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Notation: If yous downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer then double-click on gmer.exe.

  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic Full Scan when get-go run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you lot receive a WARNING!!! near rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Browse button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Relieve... button to salvage the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Re-create button and paste the results into your side by side reply.
  • Exit GMER and be certain to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and whatsoever other security programs you had disabled.
-- If y'all see whatever problems, try running GMER in safe manner.
-- If GMER crashes or keeps resulting in a BSODs, uncheck Devices on the right side earlier scanning .

All scans above should exist performed in regular boot mode, and if that is not possible then I will mail instructions in a follow up answer on how to become into Safe Way to perform the scans. Also all scans should be COMPLETE and not quick unless specifically instructed to do so.
